My first scroll saw jewelry box

I sold this box the morning we put it on display at a show and don't remember if I posted it here.

I took about 12 panels all ready glue up and was ready for the patterns as I don't like to install patterns until I get ready to saw the pattern out. A lesson learned there! I used 12 panels all 3/4" thick for the body and only sawed out the interiors of 10 panels and the other 2 was for the clamps for each  end..

This was on a vacation and I screwed up one pattern gluing it on so we went in to South Fork to the library and I printed another pattern ...I never use any of my original patterns for I put them up in case someone wants one like I've already made. This is where I found out one printer doesn't always make the exact same size as the original from another printer and after I sawed out that last piece for the body I found it was about 1/16"  shorter both directions of the others

I had already sawed out...

From the very first band saw box I built I realized the blade was making more gap between boards that by the time I had sanded every thing smooth, I ended up with way bigger gaps  than I wanted. So I only built one band saw box.

So the way I glued each panel to each other I used 4, 1/8" dowels between each panel. This meant I could only glue one panel at a time then wait till the was dry before I could drill four new holes to make that panel match up with the last one glued.

The fronts and the backs of each drawer was the last things after I made sure all the sanding was completed.

I used ash for the body and mesquite for the drawer fronts. To get the two toned ash wood on the outside I taped off areas and used the air brush to make it look like the wood was stained before I glued them up. The drawer pulls are glued up bamboo for flooring.1304138784_10pieceswide.jpg.6abd8d6c2658b8283cbd17d3c88c3f45.jpg952807203_Shehasnojewelry.jpg.10561e5f7a1466d36b20b6c9b6442f31.jpg1950966386_ThisonewenttoNewOrleans.jpg.e025c64f3207cc73c32ee56f68aaa50f.jpg269766500_original(1)firastscrollsawbox5bestclampstoglueupthesedeepdraweredjewelryboxesImadesometimeago..jpg.112a021b7edda646599d7c3df48d1d03.jpg

Beautiful box. That Mesquite just pops the drawers.

Love the contrasts of the woods and grain. Your imagination and creativity is amazing Patch.
