Popular Post kmealy Posted October 19, 2022 Author Popular Post Report Posted October 19, 2022 I had a local guy, retired mechanic from the power company, help my by fixing a portable generator last week. He had several of the large mechanic's chests. When he needed a tool, he's walk right over, open a drawer and there was a neatly organized, rows in graduated sizes, set of tools. I wouldn't say he's OCD, just organized with years of experience. Grandpadave52, Artie, Gunny and 3 others 6 Quote

Grandpadave52 Posted October 19, 2022 Report Posted October 19, 2022 Or losing them either. Over the years I found screwdrivers, sockets and end wrenches left inside farm tractor transmissions either from the factory or previous repairs. I lost very few tools over the years and all went missing during field service calls mainly repairing combines, hay balers or corn planters. Artie, Fred W. Yeah farmer helpers thought I was a "tool nazi" until I asked to borrow their trucks or tractors.OTH, a few had some very well equipped farm shops and were pretty good helpers. Fred W. Al B Posted October 20, 2022 Report Posted October 20, 2022 A number of years ago i was working on my son's Toyota. Since everything was metric sizes I took my metric wrenches and kept them in the car. No issues for several days. One day I went to work on the car and discovered all the tools were gone. Obviously, someone who knew I was working on the car helped themselves to the tools. I highly suspected a former neighbor but had no proof. p_toad, Fred W. Hargis Jr, Artie and 3 others 6 Quote

I still have a couple of decals on my tool boxes a Snap-On rep gave me. Had a farmer ask me once, "you don't really mean that do you?" My response, "the investment in this box and the knowledge in my head is how I feed my family. Take either away, my family goes hungry." He wasn't much of a customer or farmer for that matter. He had inherited his ground and equipment. I make my living with Snap-On Tools Please don't ask to borrow them Edited October 22, 2022 by Grandpadave52 Gene Howe, JimM and Fred W. Hargis Jr 3 Quote
