September 11, 20223 yr Guidance needed from fellow sawdust warriors. I've learned about wood expansion the hard way on a table top, so I'm now aware enough to be cautious. I'm applying trim whose grain is going to be perpendicular to the glued up panel I'm attaching it to. Are there any tricks on installing the trim so the panel can expand and contract. The panel is 15" wide and the trim will be a kick plate at the bottom and a thinner crown type molding at the top where the side cabinet panel joins with the over hung table top edge. Any tricks or just attach and pray?
September 12, 20223 yr If this is thin piece you might be able to just use brads to fasten it but do not brad at the corners. It it is a wide or larger trim use the same method as for breadboard ends, mortice and fasten or glue in either the center .
