Twenty or so years ago, a group of fans organized a "Weekend with Shopsmith" in Dayton.   While it was going on (several years), I attended and one of the more active members presented the "Kentucky Chair".    While I never made one, it's a pretty neat design and easy do to.  Was recently thinking about and found some plans and information.  Might be on my schedule for this fall.   I think I'd opt for the rod and not the wire connection.
