August 29, 20223 yr For many years, we have been making Christmas ornaments for the grandkids so that have a "starter set" when they are out on their own. My wife and I alternate years and this is my year. Looking for some ideas. I don't do any turning, so anything involving that is out. I've done snowflakes, snowmen, plaited hearts, and some other things in the past.

I needed to joint them to get a gap-free glue joint. And, no, I didn't use my power jointer, I clamped a hand plane in a vise and skimmed off the edge.

I used a jig described in a router book to make links for chains and just elongated it. Then I cut the "link" into two canes.
