August 16, 20223 yr Popular Post I have had this "simple" upgrade on my list since changing the batteries out the first time! As part of the kitchen upgrade a few years back we installed a new sink and a new faucet. This particular faucet has an eye at the base to turn the water on/off by a wave of the hand in front of it (and it was installed pre-covid ). You likely know the type, the faucet itself goes up into a hook about a foot over the sink. When the control says "on", the water splashes all over... Anywho, our control for this rig is a small battery operated gizmo attached to the back of the sink base like so Not a very easy place to get to when batteries need replacing. Compound that with what I uncovered last December when the batteries needed changing. Oh, and did I mention that the batteries do not give any "heads up"? They just work, until they don't. Here are the RayOVac batteries I changed out. So, I asked the Mrs. to keep her eye out at yard sales for some toy that would use a 4 x AA battery box. Since I was actively looking, there were none to be had. I found what I needed at a remote control car hobby shop. The white wire is some auto speaker wire I had on hand. Yesterday while the Mrs. had gone to town I thought that would be a good time to tackle the project. I had earlier made a small picture shelf , so I got this done. I will not say it was a minimum of hassle, but I can now/in the future, easily change out the batteries with barely even bending over. I am happy with it. YMMV - it is tight quarters to work in there, and not a lot of extra wire at the control box.
August 16, 20223 yr Nice idea. I've switched over to rechargeable batteries to try and cure the losses due to leaky batteries.
August 16, 20223 yr Popular Post You guys are lucky for when you open the door under our sink reminds me of Fibber Mcgee's closet! You do remember him?

August 16, 20223 yr Great solution Cal. Better patent that before Delta sees this. Dan's upgrade to rechargeable batteries is good too. I've converted multiple items to rechargeable. Bought several, AAA & AA at Harbor Freight (go Harbor Freight) way back on sale plus 20% off and a wall charger.
August 20, 20223 yr I use rechargeable batteries on my touch sink. Right now it’s a little slower than usual and need recharged. I normally have double the amount of batteries charging at all times.. With the grand daughter and electronic toys, rechepageablrs are cheap compared to regular batteries in the long run..
August 20, 20223 yr For some applications rechargeable NiCad batteries will replace "standard" non rechargeable cells. NiCad rechargeable batteries (AAA, AA, C, D) have an output voltage of 1.2 volts whereas their counterparts have an output voltage of 1.5 volts. Not much difference but enough to cause some device not to function properly. Lithium batteries, of the same size have an output voltage of 1.8 volts which can damage electronic devices.
August 21, 20223 yr You guys, so clever, what is it with your generation! You all need to come back reincarnated to the youth of today!
