August 11, 20223 yr Popular Post Well some time ago i came across a deal one cannot pass up on a couple festools, one being the domino with all the goods, is something i have not even attempted to use other than look at it in awe. its brand new, as was the 150 orbital sander, fella purchased a few festools and life got in the way of his plans and he gave'm up at a fire sale price ,so what can one do when an opportunity arises. now lets not jump too far ahead, i'd watched countless individuals using these guys, even watched a tutorial or two, and tonite while using the orbital sander, well lets say i may need another tutorial or not sure, no doubt this tool can sand, i mean it can remove some meat really fast and efficient, but controlling it is a little tough, i'm a big guy 6' 2 or there abouts and pushing 215, so no chump so to speak, but this thing at times was a broncing buck, i tried quite a few things, less pressure, different hand hold, different direction on grain, at first i thought it was the router marks from using the leveling table, it tends to leave small marks at edge of each cut, while you can barely feel them i though perhaps they were the cause of the rough ride, but nada, so, i continued on, muscling the darn thing, i'm wanting to like it, but it while removing the ''stuff'' is making it more of a job than a hobby, if'n ya get me drift. happy hump day, been a glorious one to be around rj in az
August 11, 20223 yr No help here Rj. That brand is out of reach and justification for me looking at cost/price/value for any work I'll ever do. It does sound like the sander has some out of balance issues going on. Call FT and see what they say.
August 11, 20223 yr I don’t own any Festool products, way out of my price range. My random orbital sander is a DeWalt. It seems to work better for me with the lightest of pressure. Sorta like using those floor buffers in the Navy
August 24, 20223 yr I have had the 150 sander for a few years. I'm 6'4"+ and a little over 200 lbs. But "let the tool do the work." You only need light force on the sander. Too much, or too little, can cause it to jump around. Hold with both hands. My rule is, "If there are two handles, you should be using two hands." Edited August 24, 20223 yr by kmealy
August 24, 20223 yr Author OKAY, have tried every way, hmm, maybe i am a little heavy handed, we'll giver a go again this weekend, with a couple different holds and hope success shows up, amazing sander ,just gets the hops and wiggles, kinda like my gal when i met her. lol rj in az
August 24, 20223 yr Go light or go light on sandpaper until you use to the sander enough I would just be. Easy on sanding till you see what you can and can’t do. Not a fan of the Festool sanders, there not designed for production work..
