Problem sourcing 2" flexible hose

Featured Replies

This is the problem to have, I guess.

I need a hose about 50 feet long and about 2” diameter.

That part’s easy.

The hard part is (A) it’s gotta be very flexible (think Pool Vacuum hose) and (B) it can not be made from regrinds because it’ll be flexing 24-7 and pool hoses are made from regrinds these days and they all break after a few days.

I can get food-grade virgin plastic hoses, but they are nowhere near as flexible as I need.

I can get flat cloth and rubber hoses but they kink when they flex They make fine discharge hoses but don’t work for my purpose.

I used to use pool hoses and years ago they were made from virgin plastic so they’d last year after year, but no more.

I have some PVC hose that is pretty flexible and has a spiral steel wire molded into it for strength. I’m going to try it but I don’t like the idea of the wire. If it breaks I’ll have that sharp wire whipping all over the place. The damage could run to 4- thousand dollars.

Making up end connections  is not a problem.

Got any ideas?

Look at these, they are what I used in my upholstery cleaning machines.  https://www.powr-flite.com/x8550.html   It's what carpet cleaning vans drag in and out of the van into the buildings all day long. They have different lengths and diameters, couplers on the end are separate.  I've ordered from this company with good results, but if you have a local (carpet) cleaning supply store nearby, they can probably get you what you want, too, and you'll be able to see it first.  The "solution line" hoses are for high pressure feed of water & cleaning solutions, so not them.

I have a hundred feet of that in black.   It is anything but flexible.  It flexes just enough for a gorilla to bend it into shape and shove it on a fitting

Thanks  I'd not have thought about looking for industrial vacuum hoses   There may be exactly what I need  from one of the houses.   I wrote them an email and then found a company called Flexaust  who has a tone of different hoses.

I went in to a place that sells hose and pipes. I needed a flexible 1 1/2" hose-pipe that would take high pressure.  We went in to the back where they put together exactly what I needed. These places has anything anyone can think of for all kinds of applications. This is oil field country so they are stocking every thing needed in all types of jobs.

This was in Abilene, tx population about 150,000 so I think if you live close to a medium sized city you will find this type of stores.

I am 40 miles from a suburb.

But what  kind of store is that?  Industrial supply?  Hoses? What do they call themselves?

It was an industrial hose supply.  I have a lake pump sitting on my dock and needed a 1 1/2" flexible  hose about 6 foot long so as the lake goes up and down in the different seasons and was getting cracks in the regular pvc hose, this would be flexible enough so my pump would not run dry and melt the innerds of the pump where in would not work like it should.  I ended up buying two pumps because of the cracks. This one is made for more pressure than I need but at least since I put that hose in the system I get water anytime I turn the pump on. Now Ian sit in the wood shop and think about what I'm doing with wood in front of me .
