July 10, 20224 yr Popular Post Need to set up this... One of these days, I'll add the correct label at the bottom...as the plane in this box was made in Roxton Pond, QUE., CAN. But, for right now, I need it as a Plough plane....to mill a 1/4" x 1/4" groove...so...open the box.. I need the main stock ( the one with the rear handle), and a 1/4" wide cutter.. Next, need the 2 short rods.. Long rods would be too long for this job...next.. For cutters wider than 3/16", a sliding stock is needed...both to support the cutter, and help balance the plane. In this case, it slides up against the main stock, and is tightened down..( Screwdriver is a Millers Falls No. 6, BTW...I don't have the Stanley one for this plane..) Next.. The fence...controls how far from an edge the plane will go, and guides the cut...Set about 1/4" away from the cutter..or however near or far away you want...I set this with the combo square, and check BOTH ends of the fence. And the plane is ready to go....took about 5 minutes to do..counting the pictures. They are a fun plane to use, too.. Thanks for looking in...
