May 26, 20224 yr Popular Post After my old Kindle reader gave up the ghost after a mere 11 years of service, I was obliged to buy a new one. This one is larger so I had to make a new cover for it. And what is more appropriate than a book design. This is mesquite with hard maple 'paper' and a leather binding/hinge. The same design worked well for the old one so I decided to try it again. There was too much wooden real estate to leave blank so I decorated it with a bit of Lichtenberg figuring. Comments and critiques are welcomed and thanx for looking.
May 26, 20224 yr Not much to say, your Kindel ought to be really happy wearing that. Man, I love that mesquite.
May 26, 20224 yr i once had some wood that was not well behaved. it kept moving around the shop during off hours (you would of course blame me, the victim, for misplacing the wood), and then when the weather would change, it would curve and bend and split. so, we had a long talk, and i had to let it go, so i fired it. firewood! was the call. he was rather burned up at the outcome. (yes, that was a long set up for a poor joke) nice cover, that electrical stuff scares me.
May 27, 20224 yr That is spectacular Tony! But, I don't know for sure what the last pic is showing me...
May 27, 20224 yr Author Cal, That's just a look at the inside. Those things make pretty good mirrors when they're clean.
May 27, 20224 yr Author Thanx for the nice comments, guys. With the way things have been going around here, I'm surprised I got even this little project done. Any and all encouragement helps.
May 28, 20224 yr That looks great!! I have always wanted to try that but with my electrical know how I figured I would be the only thing that would burn!

With the way things have been going around here, I'm surprised I got even this little project done. Any and all encouragement helps. That looks really nice and cool. I need to try that one day. Once I was at the local scrap metal place scrapping a bunch of metal. After I got weighed up I parked my truck and trailer and went inside the office. The guy in front of me was missing one leg from the knee down and in a wheel chair. The clerk turned around and said (his name) it's 349... I thought how could this guy haul that much copper in a wheel chair then the clerk started counting out his money... One, Two, Three and 49... I fished a 10 out of my pocket and as he went by I dropped it on the floor and I said hey buddy you dropped some money and picked up and gave it to him. He left with a big smile on his face. So when you think you have it bad think about that guy and how he was happy to get $3.49 from some copper. JT Edited June 11, 20224 yr by jthornton
