March 12, 20224 yr Popular Post comment_285976 Was cleaning out the area behind where the Drill Press USED to sit....and buried under all the dust, and shavings... Wire brush to get to look this good....bolt was bent....a 32oz Ball Pean Hammer soon had it straightened out. Threads were cleaned out, and oiled...then the bolt was ran all the way out, and then all the way back in..with a bit of "fine tuning" along the way...until it was working like new Other side says it MIGHT be a No. 4? So...what IS a Tank Clamp? Report

Because, by code, oakum is to be driven only by an 8 ounce ball peen hammer. And the lead, it is caulked with the caulking iron and, you guessed it, an 8 oz. ball peen hammer. Ya drive it too hard, it can split the bell when water hits it and it expands. My nicest C-clamps I have were recovered from my F.I.L.'s work bench, AND a collection salvaged from a store closing, where they were used for holding metal shelves together. Regrettably, several years ago I let a dozen of them go. Oh well, can't put a clamp on someone else's progress. Report
