February 13, 20224 yr Some guest leaned back in these fairly new dining chairs and we realized they were made of some type of pine when we started taking them apart. The paint was covering all the wood so inspecting them was probably impossible when shopping for them in the stores. The builders used wide, almost 1/2" tenon's every where but the slots they chiseled in to the wood was closer to 3/4" wide. Glue is not made as a gap filling material. Very bad construction but just looking at the chairs with the cushions on I/m sure caught the eyes of the buyers...but once the joints gets a little loose, they are useless as chairs to sit in. Well, she told me she got a bargain so maybe chalk that up to experience. Being harsh on your own kids if they did the leaning back might or might not be the thing to do, but guest, wow. T, I think the first chair we glued up yesterday with you guys help was greatly appreciated and might stay together a little longer but this chair has more problems so be careful and keep all four legs on the floor all the times. When you guys come to pick these up if you can find some 1/2" Baltic Birch plywood pick me up two pieces...It only comes in 5' x 5' sizes so it might not fit in your suv and will only lay slanted in the newer pickups and that means it has to be tied down or else it might go sailing in to someone else's windshield.
