February 12, 20224 yr I have a heat duct that runs between the joists in my basement workshop. It runs right over my "work triangle" and I'm wondering about the feasibility of adding a register there that I can open up when I'm working in the winter (or summer) time. Problem is, it's an ~8" round pipe. Is there a reasonable way for a person semi-skilled in metal work to pop one in there?
February 12, 20224 yr Popular Post There are things called "saddle tees" where you would just cut a hole, put the tee over it, then you register. The linked one is adhesive, though I might still be inclined to put in some pop-rivets. Just remember it will reduce the air to what ever room(s) that branch feeds.
