Frog Lube

Watched a project farm video of competing CLP lubes

Frog Lube was  very good at corrosion protection

I wrote the company to see if there is silicone in it and they said "NO"

So I'm going to get some and see if  it'll work well with woodworking machinery apply it to some cast iron and do some glue ups and apply some finish after rubbing the wood surfaces all over the treated cast iron

From what I understand, coconut oil based?? Their products are supposed to be the cats meow for firearms cleaner, lube and protection. I haven't tried it yet. Will watch this thread for your perspective on it.

Another that gets rave reviews for hand planes, chisels etc is CAMELLA OILI haven't tried it either. Not sure how it might work on machine surfaces. Apparently it does not affect glue ups or finish application.

The guy at project farm found it's not so great in cold weather.

I understand the military's desire for an all in one  cleaner protestant lube, but in practice I don't particularly like them for firearms. The ingredients are in competition with each other.  I prefer a cleaner,  then a lube and a protectant if I need one. Stand alone products will  do their job so much better than an all in one.

I believe Sig Sauer  uses and recommends fully synthetic SPEC1 - 15CC light gun grease, a SPEC1 fully synthetic lube. and SPEC1 bore cleaner. .

To be Fair , Those are Sig's their proprietary products. But hey, they make those great guns.

Anyway

I've applied it to my cast iron surfaces.  I rub it on really  thin. Can't detect with my finger tips.  water dances off  like it was nuthin.  The beads I let to stand till they evaporated and  nuthin.

it's been a bit chilly for finishes but I'm gettin' pointed in the right direction. 'nother cup o coffee maybe.

I talked to some of our Sheriff deputies. Some really like it. Others views mixed. I'll likely continue as you with stand alone for firearms especially with the wild temperature and humidity swings we have.

Thanks for update and results on your CI surface use thus far. I can wait to hear (read) your thoughts regarding finish. Gonna be some time here before it's warm enough to do that. I'm open to trying it for shop tools. I get tired of cleaning and waxing only to do it over and over with same results....definition of insanity.

Now that you mention it, another round of coffee sounds mighty good. Thanks Cliff.

It smells minty like Guaifenesin from the guaiac tree. I think that tree is also called lignum vitae.
