I still do a lot of my own automotive, L&G, etc. repairs & service. Gone are the days of farm machinery/implement & heavy equipment repairs where I used mostly

1/2" & 3/4 drive sockets. While I had a full set of 1/4" drive it was seldom used unless working on cab interiors or occasionally my own stuff.

I saw this tool on a YouTube video a bit over a year ago. Bought one; paid less b/c H-F has some kind of weekend deal. Still for $8.99 currently, I highly recommend it. Lifetime Warranty. I use mine a lot. Seldom use a 1/4" drive extension anymore.  YMMV.

Pics when it was new. Collet is spring loaded with detents to hold shaft in place. No issues of accidentally moving.

Took these a couple days ago. Surprisingly, H-F doesn't depict the greatest feature of the 1/4" sq, female drive in the handle end. I've used much

longer 1/4" drive ratchets on it. Great to break a fastener loose, then spin it out by hand; same for starting by hand, rundown, then tighten.

I haven't used an impact driver on it but suppose it would handle it, IDK? No plans to try it. I only have a very few impact rated 1/4" sockets.

I never use an impact of any sort on chrome sockets; they're not designed for it.

BTW, not made in China either.

That’s pretty neat. Sure would beat having to dig out different length extensions

Will have to pick one up, be nice to keep in my pocket with other 10 lbs of sockets and such.  :D

You'll like it Gunny. Wish I had one years ago...better yet, wish I had come up with the idea. I've had a MAC 3/8" handle for 40 years that is similar, only fixed length. I did and do still use it often along with the short versions that have a knurled wheel. If I'm using 1/4", I pick this up automatically now.

I probably should get another just to keep a 10mm socket. Man, cars & trucks and even my lawn equipment use LOTS of fasteners with 10mm heads. Back in the day 10mm was used only for setting hi-idle speeds and fuel delivery (smoke screw) on Robert Bosch in-line injection pumps...had to heat & bend the wrenches just so if still on the tractor.:P

My first Craftsman 1/4" set had a driver with the in the handle for the ratchet.  When it broke I was devastated and Sears had no replacement.  Couple of years ago I found one at the Habitat Restore and my prayers were answered but now I want one of those!  Hope the guy who thought of it made good money on it.

Those are the best extension I ever had.  I built one in 3/8" from a broken extension and a hydraulic fitting.  Being able to switch over once it is loose is great.

You need to get yourself an apron or belt with a bunch of places to hold sockets and wrenches.   Sort of like the cowboy holster belts.

If you are gonna use that why don't you move up to a 1/4" drive air ratchet. Its faster than thing!.
