January 10, 20224 yr I am a USN and USA retired disabled combat veteran served from 1992-2016. This is going to sound nuts but I am looking for a few fellow disabled combat vets that are also serious outdoorsman, to feel out for a possible epic adventure to showcase that we may be disabled but can't be beat and to showcase our differences to the civies. Service branch doesn't matter if your a PJ or rescue swimmer with operational experience this counts in my eyes as combat your included In addition to the ground squad also need a support team for this adventure be warned that this adventure will be a long term commitment possibly up to three and a half years between planning logistics and completion. I do not want to give a lot of details here just trying to get a working team together family doesn't want me going alone and I have a thing about trusting non vets. I will say that it will be in Alaska maybe more as planned by the group. We are not obsolete or incapable and I am tired of being looked at like a dinosaur time to fire these kids up and show them something. If your an experienced Outdoorsman or woman disabled combat veteran with good survival skills I am looking for you this isn't about speed but skill ingenuity and hardiness we will reach the goal when we get there with the whole team. It will require land nav, climbing, ice and water skills between 25 and 50 Years old as of this posting and your interested please respond to this we will be verifying skills and backgrounds for safety purposes. I also need person's that are social media savvy.
January 11, 20224 yr @Warrior7R, my name is John Morris, community administrator for The Patriot Woodworker. In order for us to leave this topic in place, we are going to need more information about your company, your website if you have one, and any other relevant details for signing up for this adventure. In the past we have been hit with proposals such as this, only to find out a lot of money is involved to be paid by our veterans, and a lot of hoops to jump through. Which in itself is not the problem, but the problem is, if what you are proposing does involve soliciting our veterans for paid or unpaid trips, then we have an advertising venue here on The Patriot Woodworker that you can take advantage of. Solicitation of business is not allowed in our open forums. Thanks for any clarification you can provide.
January 11, 20224 yr Author I am not asking them for any money except what they need in personal equipment and right now for travel there and back, for themselves it's not a luxury trip it literally an adventure and challenge, that is in it's begining stages. I don't even know if anybody will join right now. I am planning to go on my own, my family doesn't like that and asked me to consider going with others. If more want to join, them I will start looking into sponsorships to aid with cost and equipment. If I can help others while doing it so be it as of right now it's me and me alone I have most of my gear and am evaluating routes terrain and seasonal water flows. Having more people will make it safer but also less challenging and as I stated I am disabled so it is no race, my body can only go so far over terrain with a load per day so it is literally me or us vs the last wilderness and mother nature. I am willing to modify for the needs of the others if, if anyone joins me. I am a member of IAVA, the American Legion, the VFW, and Wounded Warrior Project. My service is a matter of public record Major commands I served with include Coronado Naval Amphibious Command, Ca, CV 63 USS Kitty Hawk WestPac 94, 36th En BDE Ft Leonardwood, Mo, 635th Armor Reg Ft Riley, Ks, 4th BDE 1st ID, Ansbach, GE, 49th Group 101st ABN Ft Lee, Va, 13 the ESC Fort Hood, Tx, and 14th EN 555 EN BDE JBLM, Wa and You can look me up in the media, I represented the Army at Jimmi Heseldon of HESCO Bastion's Funeral so I am not some anonymous mouth piece. While I also own my own company it has nothing to do with this endeavor I am not a travel guide counselor or touchy feely person I am a combat disabled Radioman, Combat Engineer, and Engineer Mechanic who has been blown up 4 times shot 3 and has mild PTSD, no promises of cures or betterment or any other crap just a challenge to prove my/ our best days are not behind me/ US.
