Another sphere

I received another stone sphere last week. This one is a nice example of Jasper. I have an Aunt who just turned 90 and has a lifelong collection of minerals and I love to make these for her. I glued up some scraps of black walnut for the base and will get to it maybe next week. We are scheduled to go see her in Casa Grande in two weeks.

That's going to be awesome, Paul.

If you need a great place to eat in CG, we just discovered this restaurant on the way home from the airport where we dropped off my sister last Tuesday.

http://www.bedillonsrestaurant.com/home.html.

It's an hour and a half from our place but, for a special occasion meal, we'll definitely make the trip.

Also, if you want some mesquite, pistachio, pecan + more in the CG area, call John Goodwin ( 520-560-0763 ). He's on the east side of the 10. Mccartney(spelling?) Road just a tad north of the CG exits. His woods are rough slabs of RW&L. But, he'll cut it to fit your truck bed.

Forgot to mention, they don't open until 11:00.

Had Static LV over this morning which was a pleasure. While he was here I roughed out the piece and then finished it off this afternoon. First coat on and drying. I have also finished up one of the Christmas turnings with the roses. They will be here next weekend so it was good to buff it out and get it done.

Whoa! What is the composition of those gorgeous spheres?

That one is Jasper. There is a place called the Rock Shed that has all kinds of stone spheres. They make great presents and are easy /quick turnings. They also sell crystal balls on Amazon that are fairly inexpensive.

Here’s one I made with a crystal ball a while back.

That does make a nice gift. I bought some smaller ones on eBay after you showed your first one . Had planned on using the cut crystal with a light underneath but first turning did not work and have not gotten back to it.

They sure do look nice.  Price is reasonable for what they are.

Those came out looking amazing.  Thanks for having me and sharing your knowledge.  I learned a lot and have a ton of things to practice now.  That sphere pedestal is incredible when you consider the rough blank it started from!
