Home Depot

New year, new rules.

Home depot is bringing in new rules for their military discount, no longer is a ID card enough, now you have to go their website and register.

I just got finished with my attempt, it ended with the site asking me to upload documentation to "prove" I was eligible. Sorry, my information was compromised by them before, not going through that again.

Lowes won't believe I'm a veteran either, guess I'll just pass (I may have spelled that wrong) on both of them from now on.

I recently needed to reverify my status with Lowe’s. Did it online. Don’t get to Home Depot that often.

they ask me all the time, and I remind them it is illegal to ask to see my DD214.  Says so on the form itself.  Besides I really am not about to explain some of what is on that form.  Some things nobody else needs to know.  Never mind the security aspect of them having this info.  Nah, keep that discount.

Lowes wants me to bring in my DD214, Retiree ID card isn't enough.

I'm being a hardheaded old coot.

A couple of years ago the local Cosco teamed up with a local Credit Union to give the local university students and alumni special stuff, all you had to do to prove yourself was give them a university e-mail address. You should have seen the looks when I told them e-mail (at least for the general public) did not exist when I graduated, not university e-mail, ANY e-mail. Couldn't get in to the special event.  Hah.

Ya, like that 10% discount is going to bankrupt them.

It's not the discount, it's the business model that says offer a discount so we can use it as advertising, then make the discount unusable.

Never had a problem getting the vet discount at either the BORG or the BBRG. I guess I'm in their system.

I'd think that, in this area, a great number of their customers are vets.

HD wants me to download an app for my phone. I don't have one.

Now I have a reason to drive across town and shop at the local hardware store

We went to the "local" Home Depot- 25 miles one way- for a water filter. The very nice checkout lady saw my Navy flight jacket and told me about their veteran's discount (I have one at Lowe's). She even gave me the discount after seeing my driver's license which has my veteran's status.
