I ran into the same issue Patch. Bought a bag of the wood ones at Walmart. They had shorter but were plastic. Didn't like those. I've only made the triangle "leave one" Cracker Barrel game. I have a drawing to make the wooden puzzle. It was on the schedule for spring/summer until I got laid up. Maybe next spring. You're going to make some little & big kids pretty happy. Popular Post Smallpatch Posted December 9, 2021 Author Popular Post Report Posted December 9, 2021 This is my jig to shorten golf tee's so all will be the same length. The sacks of tee's was all they had and there are two different lengths. Also they are easier to sharpen them on the 1 x 42" belt sander. I also used 2 different sizes metric drill bits cause they were different widths.. I was getting too much slop with u.s. standard bits. The block that holds the tee's is 1 1/8" wide. And I forgot to measure the total length after I sharpened them but they can be any length to suit. Artie, Terri Littlefield Miller, Grandpadave52 and 3 others 4 2 Quote
Popular Post Smallpatch Posted December 10, 2021 Author Popular Post Report Posted December 10, 2021 (edited) the three 6 piece puzzles I have made some years ago and are very hard to put together and the folks I gave them to I showed them what it looked like all together then I turned around and took them apart and handed to them in six pieces and told them all, thats it, put it back together. One brother in law showed up in about a week and told me, here, you can take this puzzle and stick it where the sun don't shine and wouldn't speak to me the rest of that day.... I really can't speak bad of him or his actions for he is no longer here to defend himself but yes these 6 piece puzzles are very hard just to be 6 pieces and a person can make one on the table saw if I can find the piece of paper with the drawings and sizes of each piece. These other puzzles I've had for almost 20 years but never made any or seen anyone playing with any of them except the 2 I've mentioned. I will see if I can print out the directions of all these in case anyone wants to build some. Popular Post Smallpatch Posted December 10, 2021 Author Popular Post Report Posted December 10, 2021 This is where I got the puzzle to copy on the table saw. It was in a box with the three puzzles showing and I enlarged to a 3/4" board as is most of the wood laying around is 3/4. I actually forgot about the other two sitting up there on the shelf as I have only had these since 2002. Target don't list them anymore and China is on the box so someone should have them. Amazon has six different puzzles for under 30 in one box. A person does need one to go by for the measurments. These sold good at 10.00 at the craft shows These others I did print pages of the six where all you do is drill holes. The actual size is a hair smaller than the item but if you have a printer that will enlarge and reduce size don't matter. And if my ink don't run out I can enlarge them to close to the right size. Glue the picture on the wood then drilled through the first puzzle then clamped another under the pattern and drilled as many as I was making at the time. Then having to cut all the golf tee's in a jig to saw them all the same length the sharpen them a little. And Don't forget to set the depth for the drill bit. This is a good book but it gives no measurments just the stories about them. It was published in 1986 so I doubt if it can be found. Gerald, Terri Littlefield Miller, Artie and 5 others 5 3 Quote

Popular Post Smallpatch Posted December 11, 2021 Author Popular Post Report Posted December 11, 2021 (edited) I will mail you a wood 6 piece puzzle like the pinkist red one in the picture and 6 different paper patterns the exact size of the ones to be used as patterns. Glue a pattern on to the wood or on to clear packing tape and spray clear stickup on to the tape then apply the pattern on top of that.. Drill all the way through a thin piece of wood then this will be the piece you clamp on to the 3/4" piece of wood for all the hole drilling and don't forget to put a stop on your drill press so the hole won't go all the way out the back side..Then the golf tee's you buy will determine the width of the holes to be drilled. and all these tee's walmart had were too long and I showed how to cut lots o them the right length plus you will have to kinda sharpen the ends to make it easier to find the holes. Questions? I might be too late for this years gifts but I make up 10 or so of each to give during the year? I only have 3 of the 6 piece wood puzzles to send an probably don't have time to make more this year. We have our 60th annaversity before christmas.
