Shop Door Window Cover

My shop has two doors, one of which stays closed 90% of the time.  Both have windows.  At the time I built these doors in 1997 the shop had no windows at all.  In 2003 when I added on to one side I put in 4 more windows.  So light is no longer a problem.  BUT, space is at a premium.  In looking around this door has a window that could be covered and then used to hang a couple items, mainly my step stool.  Had to be careful storing it laying against window as it might break it.  So enough, I took some measurements and built a cover to go over window and screw into the frame of the door.  On the side that faces outside I used some white fabric and tacked it into place.  For the side that faces shop I had originally planed to just paint white.  Instead I went all artistic and created a fake window using paint.  Goal is not to fool ya, just trick the minds eye into thinking that is still a window.  Was fun, will be a conversation piece when I have visitors.

Started with basic frame:

Added hooks for step stool and checked fit:

Took a week of time in finishing room to get it looking like a window:

Great idea Gunny and good utilization of your available space.

Really does fool the eye especially if one looks at the left door first. Of course, I don't get out much anymore.

I feel you there. I am almost totally out of any additional space!

Like clamps, you can never have enough.
