November 13, 20214 yr Popular Post I would keep them just in case that phone decides to malfunction or quit.
November 13, 20214 yr Popular Post Cool idea but I don't have the phone with me in the shop. I go there to get away.

November 13, 20214 yr Popular Post Pretty cool. Thanks Lew. Side note, I met and talked with Jim a couple times at the Indy Woodworking Shows a few years back. He is really a nice guy, does great sessions and takes time to answer questions afterwards. Quite humble too IMO. Edited November 13, 20214 yr by Grandpadave52
January 30, 20224 yr Popular Post I don't take my phone into the shop, as I don't need any distractions while working there. I just had to get a new phone though as Sprint was bought by T-Mobile and 5G is in while 3G is out. As I have my old phone thought I might take it in there and leave it there just for such uses. Good to take quick pictures. Good to check the angle on my CNC angle clamping jig. Good for using as a flashlight when more light is needed, and just as the video shows good to use for setting router bit or table saw blade height. Looks like it maybe could be used for checking blade tilt angle as well. 4D
January 30, 20224 yr Popular Post I don't own a phone, currently we live in a large river valley and there is no signal. It's 0800 now and we won't even see the sun for another 1/2 hour this time of year and it'll be gone around 3:30. There is a new tower being built but I spend most of my at home so there's no reason to buy a leash.

July 22, 20241 yr Popular Post I just found out that if you don't happen to have your digital phone in your pocket but you have a digital angle gauge in your shop you can place it on a piece of straight wood, zero the angle gauge and use this like the man in the video did with a phone.
January 5, 20251 yr The case on my phone makes it useless as a level on any of its sides or back. Otherwise kind of a cool trick, at least your using for something practical. I’m personally looking forward to the day I retire and I give mine back to the company.

I swore I'd never get one, BUT, as my Mom got older we were worried that she might need one for safety. Now I can't seem to be without it.
