This picture is like the next project only larger and since it all will be built by human hands flaws will naturally show!!!

Wife is putting diamond shaped glass pieces together and the opening these two glassed frames will suppose to fit in is a 34" wide area...

Wife says we are to paint the frames white......

And I ask is that all of the directions you and the new home owner discussed???? Yep.....

okay, but any more, white is just not white and don't forget that time the owners of a new house brought you a piece of card board with the exact size of an area they needed stained glass in and was at least 1/2" longer two directions and the glass was a triangle shaped 6 foot long monster. Two sides were terribly drawn not anywhere close to the correct sizes to fit the opening. both up and down than the card board drawings were off and try as they did they could not srink the glass in to a smaller area than their specks on the card board was showing!!!!. Then they tried to claim it was not their fault maybe the card board expanded while traveling from their house to ours..... And I walked up while you guys were discussing the size before you ever started on making it for them. I asked if the glass should go to what area of the marks so lot , the inside or the outside of the black area??? So then we got a straight edge and cut the cardboard with a knife where they specified the edge of the glass should extend to. That piece of cardboard went back and forth a few times before they finally gave up and I don't think the glass ever got installed in that opening. The customers were the ones doing the measuring as we never went to that house....

So this time I am asking wife to take both frames over to the new house and place both frames in the openings before any glass is cut to make sure both will fit. So I get a "that's not necessary," answer! This time the house is maybe in the Dallas area or somewhere miles would have to be considered in the total cost. At least this time if the frames are too big they could be cut down without having to cut any glass.

I am trying to convince wife this type of business is not what either of us needs anymore. Don't you remember when I made you retire because I was moving to the lake?

Also a different thought, she uses foil and never CAME so the lines on a straight area can wiggle one way or the other but I also think using both styles of soldering should be used at different times. At least she does tell the customers what they will get before she shows the completed picture!

For a person not knowing but the foil is wider than the glass is so the foil wraps around each side of all the pieces of glass so when all the pieces of glass is laid where it goes then the person heats the solder up and applies the hot solder on the copper along with some acid flux to make a smooth bonding  between all the pieces.. The CAME is a roll of solder with a channel made in the side of the solder and the glass goes in to that channel. I think someone told wife before she took some classes that a person using foil has to be a more skilled artist so this is why??? she only uses foil????

Its just not nice to try and figure out why the female does things somewhat different than a male type person does things and to try to figure those things out would probably get someone a bump on the head???

if you keep bailing her out, she will have you keep bailing her out.

if, and that's a big IF, me and my wife were engaged in some business where she made part of the work, and I made part of the work, i know that if my portion was the woodworking portion, and it had to fit into an existing space I did not control, I would make sure I knew the size and shape of such an opening, and then relay that to her to let her figure out her portion.

seems like she's trying to "help" you by actually skipping your step.  and it's not working out so good for you.

man's got to know his limitations.
