So I had a friend ask me to make her a few bowls and I obliged to.  I've never had an opportunity until now to try out maple burl so I bought a blank of it which is extremely expensive.  How ever I'm kind of surprised that it turns rather well.  Although I don't get the nice long shavings with it when turning.  Either way I'm enjoying it so far this is a work in progress project I just have to wait for some tips to get here and more sand paper to arrive but yes I'm enjoying working with this.  The walls have a few indentations in it but that's perfectly fine I like the rough and used look that it gives to the wood.  Gives it a lot more character.
