Thank You!

Ditto!

Thank you, with tomorrow being the 20’th anniversary, and with the recent events in Kabul, I’m thinking tomorrows air show will be a good place to be.

On my mind this morning are the family and friends of those who lost their lives, and how those who lost their lives must have felt as they saw the end coming. A somber day it is.

I was loading up the work truck for the day when I heard the preliminary news that a Cessna had flown into a Trade Center Tower, it wasn't long after the news came through that it was indeed a terrorist attack.

I called my wife at home, and she stayed glued to the television and related news back to me while I was in the field working, our crew left the radio on all day long as we tried to listen to the events unfolding as we worked, I think we were all still in a state of denial most of the morning, once I got home from work and sat with my wife and two young daughters in front of the television, it all finally started setting in what really happened.

Our nation changed, we lost many more lives, and I dream of the day we can return to the way it was on September 10th, 2001. But we won't.

Life marches on, we adjust, and live.

Our heart felt prayers are with all who were affected by this dastardly deed.

And may the cowards and animals who were involved in this act and for those continuing the terrorism, rot in Hell.

If yall don't have Television or Cable

There is a whole lot to see at this solemn website dedicated to the 9-11 terrorist attacks. Here is one example, a timeline.

TIMELINE.911MEMORIAL.ORG

September 11 Attack Timeline. On September 11, 2001, nineteen al Qaeda terrorists hijacked four commercial U.S. jetliners...

I remember being at work on the 12th of Sept. thinking about everything that happened the day before and all the emergency measures put into place. With the grounding of all air travel it accured to me that for the first time in my life there were no airplanes flying anywhere above the U.S. that day. Just a thought.

It was weird not seeing planes of any kind in the sky for however many days they were grounded. We had a small group in Los Vegas at a trade show at the time.  They were supposed to return on the 12th, and of course all the flights were cancelled. They managed to rent a passenger van (the last one available as I understood it) and the 6 of them drove back to NW Ohio.

Hey Fred,

My sister was in Vegas for a MacDonald's sales seminar and hitched a ride with a group in a van back the Chicago area. She also said it was one of the last available. Wonder if it was the same van load.

Not likely, our group said they were it....probably a different rental company for the 2 vans. Of course there's always the possibility that I remember what they said about the van incorrectly.:WonderScratch:

She did say it was a company group but, not what company. She was the only one not of the company. Next time I talk to her, I'll ask if she remembers.

I well remember the morning.  I had just driven to the base security office to discuss some updates and changes to the database that maintained all passes for those accessing the base, had all the incident reports and any violations.  When I walked into the building, they were discussing taking down the Blue Angels from one of their weekly practices.  When I saw the TV and the pictures of the 2nd plane crashing into the 2nd building, I felt a hollow feeling in my chest.  While everyone was glued to the TV, I knew it was a good time to make the software upgrade.  So, I did that and didn't say a word to anyone.  I drove back to my office and everyone there was gathered around the TV.  I didn't need to see anymore.  It was readily understandable to me since there had been several attempts in the 1990's on the WTC.  I knew that if I wanted to get anything done, focus on the job while everyone else was on the unfolding event.  I was not sure if we would live another day, but I knew if I could get it done, it would be completed and no one would have to be concerned about my work.  The events did cause our world and country to change and I think that there are prophetic indications in these events.  Not sure what they are, but we are being warned of something.  Like John said, we must adjust and move on.  Now, I am adjusting to winding down my life and getting ready for old age.  LOL  Getting rid of stuff and downsizing.
