September 6, 20214 yr Most interesting. I have a good supply of Klingspor on hand at the moment but I will probably be switching to the Cubitron...if the price of wood ever comes down and I get back to woodworking. Forgot to mention, searched for the Cubitron 710W on line, it's not yet in wide distribution. I imagine it will grow in popularity and availability shortly. Edited September 6, 20214 yr by Fred W. September 6, 20214 yr Author I was never too concerned about brands. Just bought what was available...usually at ACE. But now, I gotta find who sells that 3M Extract.
September 6, 20214 yr Popular Post I've been using the 3M product for years. I've always felt they had the best. I will just continue. Lowe's carries 3M so I just get it there. Not sure if they have the Cubitron.
September 6, 20214 yr Used to use the Norton 3x for ROS, ok don't do much of that anymore. On Lathe use sheet Norton 3X Plus and for 2" disc Mirka Gold H&L. Have tried others for 2 inch and not happy. I think it not so much how much material it removes but how low the pad lasts stuck to the sander and consistency of surface results. For that I am pretty happy right now.
October 4, 20214 yr I bought some Shopsmith sandpaper a few years ago when they pushed it so hard. I didn't see great results. It was affordable which is a big statement. I have some 3M, not sure if it is the one he mentioned. I also keep some Festool on hand. Expensive, but cheap to use as you can use a piece for a very long time. Well worth the money and you don't need to buy it often. Therefore, cheaper.
October 4, 20214 yr This hardly qualifies as the "Largest sandpaper test EVER done". 3M, Festool, Norton, Mirka and Klingspor all had multiple styles included in the test. Only those companies best papers should have been included. Other manufacturers were simply ignored. I don't agree or disagree with his findings but I do think that this test is not a true final answer to the question, which sandpaper is best.
