September 3, 20214 yr Popular Post This Legacy Ornamental Mill can sure help do some almost impossible chores while keeping the dangerous end of woodworking at a minimum. My plan was to scroll saw these two names then cut slots for them in this piece of mesquite for an office desk name plate. After giving up on hand holding the router with a man made jig just wasn't getting things accomplished and at the same time keeping things safe. Then this do it all machine caught my attention.....I installed the turn table with 4 screws in to the bed of the Ornamental mill and attached the piece of mesquite to that turn table with a piece of strap supplied from the plumbing area of HD. I had used some 5/8" wide maple to saw the names out and thinking that wide of material would look good after being sawn out with the scroll saw... The bed of the Mill will tilt both directions but not enough for the slopping slots needed using this piece of mesquite so I cut both slots then with the table saw I made some fill in pieces the right size to keep the names out just enough like the Miller on the right side. What's surprising to me is I don't think I have ever heard anyone ever speak of owning one of these machines. Well one guy use to own one but he has since left for greener pastures. Especially since all this machine will do over any other machine in anyone's wood shop is a big surprise! Someone wanted the fanciest quilt rack ever made so using a french curved set, I attempted to do what he wanted for his wife. Maybe it being a hand crank machine is not modern enough....Mine is a hand crank model but they do have an electric turn type also but I'm cheap.. Amazing what guys are missing out on! September 3, 20214 yr Author I also cut all the slots for the inserts to make super strong joints on all the pieces of the quilt racks using the ornamental mill.
September 3, 20214 yr Author Or if a person is needing to make a few turns to add things the buyers are not expecting from you, you might get the buyers smiling while giving you his money for the piece you are making for them then this mill is the machine for you.
September 3, 20214 yr Author sreilly 245 I bought this machine at a wood working show in Fort Worth or Dallas in 2000 and they have now added a few CNC machines to their group but this machine has no electronics just lots of stops to set and it uses a Porter Cable 3 1/4 hp router. It is called Legacy Ornamental Mill 1200
