August 20, 20214 yr Popular Post Last week I had to refit some pieces that were cut about 1/16" too long to fit. Apparently, the retired jet engine engineer measured one piece and cut them all exactly to that size. There would have been nothing wrong with leaving a 1/4" leeway. They were tool racks to fit on the underside of a work table. Chris Schwarz also talks about level 1,2, and 3 cuts. Some things need to be precise, some not. https://canadianwoodworking.com/how-accurate-do-we-need-to-be/?utm_source=mailpoet&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=Shopnews-2021-08-20 I also remember the first day of an MBA finance class. The instructor, who was in the accounting department where I also worked, wrote down a large number to the even number of cents on the board. He said, "That was GM's net revenue last year. Does anyone believe that's entirely accurate?" Edited August 20, 20214 yr by kmealy
August 20, 20214 yr Popular Post i've been closing out my Dad's estate over the last few months. several heirs with an odd amount to divide per his wishes. the percentage I got was xx.00000039% the places after the decimal should have been all zeros, but that's not the way the pennies came out. the others agreed that this was close enough.
