This butterfly was started because I had two pieces of baltic birch sitting there going to waste from the first butterfly frame I made for wife. This is one of the center pieces I had left after sawing out the frame for her first stained glass butterfly. So I found a few things in my files that I traced around that might end up looking okay one way or the other. Then after I scroll sawed the pieces out I then went to the band saw and after removing the scroll saw turning I then sliced the bb half as thick as it was then run a ruffing bit with the dremel  to carve out cavities on the board around the carvings. Then air brushed five different colors, covered that with a few coats of lacquer and attached a saw type hanger on the back and now its hanging.

I did loose a few pieces but decided not to worry and didn't remake any and just don't look in that area to worry about it?  I did all this while waiting for the small monarch butterfly frame to dry each time I sprayed it with lacquer.

I only used one ruffing 1/8" bit for all the grinding on the entire butterfly. Its still ruff as a cobb because I just wanted to see how it will be accepted as people look at it up close.

I don't normally trace around things like this time for I usually glue a pattern on and you can see where I was not real accurate in my positioning of the pieces but hey it my style this time.

The glass she chose for the body gives it a great 3D effect, beautiful work from both of you.
