Unusual bowls

Ok, going to break a couple rules here. First, I know you're not supposed to post online when you're away from home and I know I shouldn't post non-turning pics here. We're visiting the wife's family this week in Florida. One of our side trips was to the Loggerhead marine life center in Juno  beach Florida. Sea turtles are under attack from plastic and other pollution. This center rescues them, rehabilitates them, and then releases them back into the ocean. Of course, after the tour there is the inevitable gift shop. While browsing in there I noticed some interesting bowls and thought I would share a picture or two of them. They are coconut, honestly don't know whether or not any turning is involved. I like the looks of them whatever the case.

Pretty cool looking.

The one in hand appears to be out of round.  Maybe an illusion.  That is cool.  We don't get coconuts here in North Florida.  In South Florida, they have those trees by the pools and if one turns loose at the time you are sitting by the pool, it can knock you out.  I suppose those were turned and later it warped slightly.  Just a guess.

Never heard the first rule Steve! The second rule is up to artistic interpretation.

Those are cool.  Nice color to them.  I think I saw a video of that somewhere.

Hi John

The first rule is kind of a common sense rule and probably mostly applies to a platform like facebook. Anyone can see what you post and it's not a good idea to let just anyone know there will be no one home for an extended period. The second one is probably also from FB as many turning groups will simply delete a non turning post.

Makes perfect sense, We don't posts topics on FB about a vacation we are on, while we are away. The second rule, ya, those groups get pretty sticky bout rules, and it's a good thing I guess, those discussions can go sideways very quickly! :D

coconuts interesting.  just happened to come across this...

Cool find. Never would have thought a coconut hull could be useful.
