June 12, 20215 yr Popular Post Chattanooga has a historical bridge that was built in 1891. When I first moved here it was fenced off and in disrepair. In the 1990’s the downtown area rent through a renaissance and part of it was restoring this bridge as a walking bridge over the Tennessee river. My wife and I were married on this bridge as it was where our first date was. A couple of weeks ago the city auctioned off some of the original planks at an auction house that my son runs. I was out bided for my lot, but he talked to one of the winners and told them our story. He gave my son one of the planks to give to us which I thought was very gracious. I think it is pine, 3 inches thick, 7 1/4 wide, and 9 1/2 ft long. My wife wants me to make something for remembering wedding there. So NO pressure there right!? November 2, 20214 yr I have only one suggestion. Some of the ends have split and may not be very useful. I would cut off a few inches and get them milled to about 1" X 1" to make a few pens. That is some really beautiful pine and it is hard enough to turn into pens. The remainder, you could make a box, a shelf or a few other similar items. Maybe, have a few pieces made into ornaments to pass down. Looking forward to your renditions.
