June 8, 20215 yr Popular Post She wouldn't comment one way or the other...she is down right easy to live with. Probably less than a thimble full of paint using both colors. The clear lacquer brought out the color of the birch in the middle..nice wood to work with... I remember my first job I had after getting out of high school I was in and out of lots of new homes before they were sold and about the only wood the home builders used for cabinets and all the trim in the new construction was Birch wood and if the new owners wanted wood with pretty grain it was Ash. The lumber yard folks said it was easy on them cause thats about the only two woods they had to stock!!!
June 8, 20215 yr Sweet! Nice tight miters, too! My first job, still in high school, was working for a local contractor. All the houses we built used birch cabinets and trim. One wall, around the fireplace, was knotty pine.
June 9, 20215 yr Lew, many years ago our elderly neighbors invited us to use their cabin on a small lake. When we walked in the cabin, it was like going back in a time machine. All walls and even the ceiling was knotty pine. The only entertainment was a Crosley TV (one station ) and an old antenna. All furniture was very old and so was the dock. Best of all, it was quiet and peaceful. We loved the "sound of silence"
