New ceiling fan and LED lights

After adding flush mount LED ceiling lights to our living room and kitchen in 2017 we wished we had added them to our family room.  I finally got around to this project this week.  The current fan is centered with the room and we had thought that we wanted to move it so that it would be centered with the fireplace.  After adding tape to the ceiling to verify light locations we decided to leave the fan in its current location.  We would have to moving the fan 24” to have it centered with the fireplace and we thought we then might have a strobing effect with the new lighting.  The four new LED lights are controlled with two different wire routings so that two lights can be shut off while watching TV.  All the lights are controlled with dimmer switches and two lights are wired for 3-way switching.  With the new ceiling fan not having a light kit, the room has the appearance of being larger (yea).  I want to give a shout out and big thanks to Artie.  He answered a few of my questions along the way which was helpful and gave me confidence.

LED lights make a HUGE difference in your electric bill OVER TIME.  But the only downside to LED is it does take some time getting used to the difference in the lighting.

Almost every light we have is LED. As I age, LEDs are a blessing.

LED is the way to go, so much better light and much easier to work with as the fixtures are much smaller.

We did that same project Danl with swapping out the fan/light combo and installing the LEDs on dimmers.

Overall I like the LEDs, but I do find them very "shadowy".  I had to search all over the house to find a good spot to take pictures of printed material...

My old Kodak doesn't care for LED's either, if I take a picture with it using LED lighting the colors and focus seem off.

 The lights & fan look good Danl. I was never a fan of the tulip shades, they seem to me to give off too much glare. That new fan give a nice clean look to the ceiling.

LED's have come down in price in the last few years and I don't see myself ever buying an incandescent bulb again. The one thing I learned how LED's affect a persons eyes is that they pulse, you can see this if you watch a video of someone or something & a LED tv in on in the background. Our local news weather cam shows a gas station in the shot and the LED price signs will slowly blink on & off, my guess is they are not in sync with the camera speed. For ceiling lights I like bright, 5000k daylight, but that's too bright for Patti & a dimmer gives us a happy medium

The lights have 900 lumens and are 3000K light color.  Now in additions to my wife and I dueling with the thermostat, we are dueling with the switch dimmers.  They were purchased in 2018, so I had plenty of time thinking about this project.  The fan draws 77 watts and each light less than 15 watts.  Big improvement from the incandescent lights.    I was using (5) 60 watt bulbs and had less light.  Thanks for the kind words.   Danl

I just gone done putting in some for someone and to deal with it he had me run 2 separate circuits so each person can have the lights dimmed.  Bit more wiring and of course cost.  Guy said it was worth it when they sat down and used for 1st time.
