April 16, 20215 yr Popular Post I discovered a few weeks ago the the upper and lower guide ball bearings had seized. I could get a "kit" (not sure what that meant, it's one bearing, one bolt and one lock washer per side) from SS, but I first looked at a couple of bearing supply houses near me to avoid having to spend more on shipping. No luck at either. One place could special order, but had a minimum from the supplier of 12. I need 2. Continued the search and found a guy on eBay that had two bearings for the price of one "kit" from SS. They came quickly and even had a 2 page instruction sheet on fitting the old vs. new styles. Got them on this morning and it's copacetic. If anyone needs them, I have the guy's name and phone number that he added "in case you have any questions."
April 17, 20215 yr Shopsmith used to request that users send the bandsaw back to them to replace the lower wheel bearings. Also, I use graphite powder to lub my wheel bearings in the bandsaw as well as all the other bearings on the unit. Speaking of that, it is the time of year to do all the lubing and waxing.
April 17, 20215 yr For small bearings like guide bearings the True Value Hardware by me has a pretty good selection in the small parts bins.

The problem is, they are, for some reason, metric, 10mm id, 22mm od, 10 mm high. Two large bearing supply houses didn't have them, one had no source.https://www.ebay.com/itm/2-Shopsmith-Bandsaw-Blade-Guide-Bearings-37-PP-7-X-22-X-10mm-10mm-wide/233706497589?hash=item3669fe2635:g:LmkAAOSwOTZfVpV1
