While the Mills are on hold until I can get some more material. I thought about making a desk lamp.

So while waiting for funds to come in to pick up more blanks for mills I cut up a chunk of what I could salvage that was left from tree cutters cutting down a bunch of douglas fir trees over by managements office.  I decided to give it a go and make a desk lamp.  The wood will still have to continue and dry out but I think I've got a fairly good shape to it going.  I've got a 1 inch drill bit with a morse taper #2 I think that should safice as far as getting the hole drilled out for the wiring when the time comes.

Figured Id get some turning done before the heavy weather set in.

The tubing/conduit that runs through it and connects the bulb socket etc is much smaller than 1".

That is very true hadn't considered that.  Guess its a good thing I've got smaller bits.

Well the basic shape is there, I'm quite happy with it.  The hole is drilled out for the cording, that was extremely awkward oh well.  It will still probably turn into a nice looking lamp once the wood finally totally dries out and I can sand it stain it and wire it.  Its simple and probably has a classic look to it.

Lamps can be top heavy.  Putting some lead in the base might be good to include in your plans.
