March 28, 20215 yr I'm about to make some mid size resin molds out of 1/2" HDPE sheet and as I haven't worked with it before I've got a couple questions. What's the best adhesive to use when setting a metal screw insert into this stuff? I've read that CA works but I'd rather use something less brittle. I wonder if just screwing a heated insert into a tapped hole would work. You could use an IR gun and run some tests to find the best temp. Edited March 28, 20215 yr by bradleyheathhays
March 28, 20215 yr Why not just tap the hole? I think that’s what these are https://www.lizardblanks.com/
March 28, 20215 yr Author Thanks lew but I've decided against inserts altogether. I'm concerned the insert would end up pushing the walls of the HDPE out just a bit. I've seen another suggesting of just tapping the holes and use a screw like normal. I just didn't think HDPE was durable enough but I'm glad to see I was wrong.
