Turning outboard

Thought I would try to turn something outboard. I took a 7x9x18 piece and cut it into two 3.5x9x18. Took one of those and cut it in half again and glued them together. I ended up wit a piece 1.75x18x18. I cut it round on my bandsaw. I put it on the lathe and evened out the bottom and outside. It turned very nice. No vibration.

Understandable, I mean why have to waste time and effort with a refill when you can empty the entire box into the bowl.   :throbbinghead:

I have it turned down to around 3/8" thick. I think it is going to warp a little.

It is the only space I had left for storage.

Like I thought it is warping like crazy.

Did you happen to check the moisture content before starting?  Or would this be a common occurrence even with "dry" lumber?

I knew it was wet. I went with it anyway to see what would happen.
