Kentucky Corps of Longriflemen Horn

I am to the point on the map horn of detailing and touching up multiple areas then having to wait for ink to dry,...so in the downtime of drying ink it is time to start working on my backlog. I know several shooters on the Ky Corps of Lonriflemen...the guy the map horn is for is a member himself. This little horn is going to be a small project oriented around that theme for another member.

The horn was made some years ago by a gentleman named A.B. Conley and he is no longer with us,..I never got to meet him. It is a small horn but very well done with an excellent finish and some really nice throat work. The standout part of the horn is the plug,...still tight as a jig to this day and you can bet he had some time in it....and it has now made it's way to my hands for some scrimshaw. All I did today was sketch out the state and scribe it,..no ink yet. I'll be adding a custom job on wording and script/font from here. Nothing crazy,..we'll try and compliment the horn.

The Longrifle corps has a long history,..it was basically started over bragging rights between 2 Governors in the 1960's. I'll post a link below to their site and you guys can check it out. To get on the corps is a process...if any of you have ever shot trap it is a bit like shooting registered targets...and a few more things. To this day your certificate you receive is signed by the sitting Governor of the State of Kentucky.

Very interesting Aaron, are you a member of KYCLR?

Looking forward to seeing your work on this horn also.

Cal,..I'd love to do it but unfortunately the shoots that you are required to attend are all on weekends,..at least that I know of. I actually work every weekend and am off through the week so at the moment I'm unable to pursue it. Thanks -Aaron
