March 13, 20215 yr I was listening to George Vondriska's monthly live Q&A yesterday afternoon. He said that he started out with a Shopsmith in a one-car garage. Me, too, but it was a 16x16 basement. I needed to open a door or go diagonally to rip an 8' board.
March 14, 20215 yr Last week, I ripped a couple of 10 footers on my old SS 500. The blade needs to be cleaned, but I cut battons from the 10 footers. They were 2" wide and 9/16" thick. So, it was rip and them run through again to bring down to thickness. I have several Woodworkers Journals videos by George Vondriska. He was a big help to me to get started. Can't see them now as the computers don't have a DVD drive. Oh, the advancements of technology.
March 14, 20215 yr Imagine all the folks who never would of gotten into woodworking if it wasn't for the compactness of the Shopsmith. Many woodworkers I bet started out on a used Shopsmith under the back porch awning.

Hey Steven, if you really want those videos back, mail the DVD's to me, and I'll transfer the files to USB for ya. And shoot em all back to you in the mail.
