Popular Post Ron Altier Posted January 26, 2021 Popular Post Report Posted January 26, 2021 A few years ago I posted that I was having a lot of problems with my phone. It would not charge. Before I took it in to be repaired, I looked in the plugin receptacle in the phone because it looked too light colored. I discovered it to be packed with sawdust. (I usually kept my phone in my shirt pocket, for easy access.) A quick blow out and problem solved. Two phones later, I have the same problem, the phone won't charge. A quick look showed nothing. I thought a closer look may help. I got a magnifying glass and a bright light. That revealed a very small piece of sawdust. A quick blowout with electronic spray and problem solved. Don't use blow air that may contain moisture or any other contamination. Gunny, HARO50, Cal and 3 others 5 1 Quote

Popular Post lew Posted January 26, 2021 Popular Post Report Posted January 26, 2021 When I got my new phone, it came with a charging cradle that doesn't require an electrical wire to the phone. Just set the phone on the device and it charges wirelessly. Love it! HARO50, FlGatorwood, Harry Brink and 4 others 6 1 Quote

Popular Post lew Posted January 26, 2021 Popular Post Report Posted January 26, 2021 No, I wish it was. I need a phone that I can use with hearing aids. When I got the hearing devices, the only phone that was available for that was an iPhone. Fortunately the lesser expensive ones work for me Gene Howe, Gunny, Cal and 5 others 8 Quote

AndrewB Posted January 26, 2021 Report Posted January 26, 2021 Been there done that several times already. Simple answer to this is you've some how managed to get sawdust in the charging port of your phone and the power connection cable is not making the proper connection to charge the phone. The simplest fix for that is to basically take a can of air and blow out the charging port. It works for me every single time. p_toad, Cal, FlGatorwood and 1 other 4 Quote

It failed to work after that, so I just started plugging it in. The wireless charger is a Samsung and the phone is an iphone, so there may be a mismatch FlGatorwood, Gene Howe, Cal and 3 others 6 Quote
Popular Post AndrewB Posted January 27, 2021 Popular Post Report Posted January 27, 2021 I don't know about the samsungs but but the connection just may be bad also you could look up both of the numbers for the phone and the charger and make sure its the right charger for the right phone from what I know and I phone charging pad wont work for a samsung charging pad. I have a charging pad for my iphone since I've recently switched. p_toad, FlGatorwood, Cal and 2 others 5 Quote

Popular Post Masonsailor Posted January 27, 2021 Popular Post Report Posted January 27, 2021 I have an iPhone and had the same problem with it packing full of sawdust. I recently had to get a new iPhone and at the store they had a pelican case that has a snap cover for the charging port. Have not had the problem since and am happy with the case. Popular Post Gene Howe Posted February 2, 2021 Popular Post Report Posted February 2, 2021 I solved the phone vs. saw dust problem. I don't carry the phone to the shop, any more. The damned thing's ring startled me in the middle of a tricky table saw cut. Disaster averted but, a lesson learned. Add the phone to long hair, long sleeves, jewelry and alcohol as things banned from the shop. Artie, HARO50, FlGatorwood and 5 others 8 Quote

So I just have a habbit of carrying mine on me constantly. Cal, Artie, FlGatorwood and 3 others 6 Quote

Popular Post Ron Altier Posted February 3, 2021 Author Popular Post Report Posted February 3, 2021 When I lived in Ohio, mushroom hunting was a big thing. The guys I worked with had their secret places and always seemed to get a lot of them. One old guy told me that he had been getting them for most of 40 years. He said the last time out he had walked about a mile and realized he left his cell phone in the truck and was so uncomfortable, he went back to get it. He couldn't figure it out, he had hunted mushrooms for more than 35 years without a phone and now couldn't go a half mile without it HARO50, Gerald, FlGatorwood and 5 others 2 6 Quote
