January 1, 20215 yr Popular Post Had a youtube video running and went to another room, came back and this was on. I noted the wall of systainers and thought green kool-aid. Working on an MFT, he pulls out a track saw. After mitering, I said to my wife, "10 to 1, he puts in Dominos." Check. Couple of Festool sanders with different pads, different sized Domino joiner, then a Festool drill. I lost mental track of how much money he had in just the tools he used. I don't know if he used a Festool wrench to get the bolt in or not, since I do not know when it was filmed and my attention was away at the time. (To be honest, though, he did also use a #4 plane and a drawknife that I don't think Festool makes, yet.) At close, they mention Festool was a sponsor. Gulp in surprise.

January 1, 20215 yr Popular Post I try to (correctly, IMHO) call them "loose tenons", not Dominos. I see Domino being the tool...though I'm sure he used a Festool wrench.
January 1, 20215 yr Popular Post Nah, I think he is into the cherry kool-aid with woodpecker. https://www.johnmalecki.com/
January 1, 20215 yr Popular Post Its cool they get free tools and all, but don't be afraid to ask a manufacturer or send them a build you made using their products. You will be surprised by the response sometimes. Sure 9 out of 10 might blow you off. Some even telling you that your lack of media presence doesn't fit their business model for sponsorship. BUT, I sent off my drill press cabinet build for WEN last week. Even sent the link to the PIP here on TPW. Got an email back with very positive response AND a request for what tooling I might need in the future. Replied I had not thought about it as my funds are limited, but I would look over the WEN line and see what might enhance my tooling in the next 3-6 months. To my surprise the guy replied an hour later, "Please email me before you purchase. Your cabinet project was very popular here in the office." Don't know what that might mean as far as freebies but hey even a small discount is money saved ya know? Edited January 1, 20215 yr by Gunny
