December 17, 20205 yr Recently purchased the WEN model 3922 16" scroll saw. I have to say that the saw performs well with the pinned blades. The saw is supposed to accept pinless blades with the attached holders. I've found the pinless blade holders are just about impossible to tighten enough to secure the blades, Twice contacted WEN for advice. First they sent a video for installing pinless blades on their model 3920 which uses accessory parts for pinless blades. MY second response said only, Attach pinless blades into holders then set tension. Not much help! For anyone who is satisfied using pinned blades, the saw performs well at a reasonable price, and blade changing is easy. Minimal vibration. For using pinless blades, it looks like you'll have to invest a bit more cash on a better unit.
December 17, 20205 yr Sorry to hear that you are having trouble with the pinless blades Al. Did you clean off the blade holders and blades before trying them? Maybe there was some oils on them from manufacturing or shipping to prevent rust. Just a thought before you give up on the pinless blades.
December 17, 20205 yr Saw a couple reviews that said the blades that come with the saw are junk so that may be the problem. I could mail you a couple blades to try if you like.

December 17, 20205 yr Al, I did mean for you to sand both sides of each end of the blade and maybe the sand marks should be side ways for the holder to grip the blade better. I changed my wording so even I can understand. Edited December 17, 20205 yr by Smallpatch
December 17, 20205 yr Author Popular Post I bought Oson blades, and I did sand the ends as you suggested Jesse, but I sanded them length wise. I'll try crosswise to see if that helps I'll try washing the holders with acetone to remove any possible oil. Thanks everyone for the tips. Edited December 17, 20205 yr by Al B
December 17, 20205 yr Some of the jaws that hold the blades hold better towards the front, maybe while cleaning take a look and see how flat they are. If an allen wrench is needed for the bottom holder a long T-handle wrench might help.
