December 11, 20205 yr Popular Post My wife made a cloth picture with embroidery and other cute things. Its about 11x14. She wanted a frame exactly to fit, so it would come to a black framing line on her picture. I picked out some nice pine (it will be painted) and proceeded to cut out some framing. I cut out the 4 pieces and I cut out the 45s to her exact measurements. It didn't work..... the supposedly perfect 45 degree corners didn't equal 90. . I checked my saw blade and miter before I started. I always do. How can this be? After grumbling a few seconds, I looked again. I found my precision miter set for 43 degrees on the second cuts. My first cuts were 45 degrees and when I switched my miter to the opposite angle. I set it 43. So it was only off 2 degrees per angle. I recut to 45 and glued it up. I'm hoping that little adjustment won't make any difference and the embroidery can be altered to fit. Its more likely that I'll have to start again.........What mama wants...........and so it goes.
December 12, 20205 yr Popular Post I used to have same problem. Made this jig so no setting of angles. You cut side A, the other side B. Assemble all the A's to B's. Bam, always equals 900
December 13, 20205 yr Popular Post I have one of those but mine is a two piece , Left and Right.Got jigs hanging all over two walls and one of the guys in turning club said he loves to come to my shop and see all the jigs.
December 16, 20205 yr Popular Post One of my favorite tools is the Miterset . With it and, the Kreg miter gauge, angles on the TS are no problem. But, the Bosch SCMS seems to do a fair job, too.

December 16, 20205 yr Popular Post Luckily, I knew the inventor and got one of his first models. Mine are made from laminated Baltic Birch, I take good care of them.
December 16, 20205 yr Popular Post My jig is similar to Gunny's with the addition of a lexan shield. I always chuckled at the Shopsmith demos where they would cut a compound miter, then hold it up and show how great it was. Might work, but any idiot could make one corner that did not have to fit a square (or unsquare) carcase or wall, but would 4 of them really work out?!
