Well I tempted my fate with the Spanish Cedar blank.  So far I'm liking it.  NO cracks what so ever.  I kept thinking that it was just going to completely blow apart on me as soon as I spun it up on the lathe and put pressure on it.  How ever it worked out.  Not to mention it smells quite lovely when working with it.  This one should turn out to be quite good.  I messed up my maple blank sadly and have wasted a perfectly good face plate due to a couple of stripped screws which I'll have to figure out how to remove at some point later in time.  How ever this Spanish Cedar piece will work quite nicely and go well with the purple heart.

Well at least this one is turning out quite nicely.  I like the look of it and it has a very nice aroma too the wood when working with it.  I think I may wind up ordering a couple more Spanish Cedar blanks in the future.
