So, like most people, life’s been up and down lately. One of the ups has allowed me to make a couple of improvements to/for the shop. In the latest woodcraft magazine there is a project called a Kissmass Tree. Me Missus loved it, she showed it to her mother, who also loved it, and now I’m gonna try to make 10 of them. So while running the project through in my head, I had a thought, if I had a better set up on my drill press I could be a lot faster. So even though Gene doesn’t like the color red, I got myself a Woodpeckers Drill Press Table. This necessitated moving the drill presses location. If only I had an outlet under the stairs, oh yeah! I’m an electrician. (It’s almost completely up to code LOL) (It is a white receptacle with an ivory plate  ) So being a member here long enough, if there is no picture, it didn’t happen.

I have mulled over having one for years.  More often than not I use a jig I made and just put it away.  Not for everyone but the Drill press gets alot of use.  All 3 of them. 

i know real woodworkers make their own . For this project I have 160 cuts on the table saw, 160 cuts on the miter saw, 1360 holes. I can stack the cuts on the miter saw, and some of the 300 holes to be drilled. 1060 of the holes are 7/8 Forster bit, for the Hershey’s kisses. Time to get in assembly line mode. Counting the Shopsmith I have 2 drill presses.

Not always, but some things like a circle cutting jig for my bandsaw work better custom fitted.  Other things like my Carter BS tension release arm I could build but went with buying one. 

 

Okay my wife gave to me for Christmas.

Looks great Artie ! Waiting to see some of the in progress results. Drilling all those holes does sound boring ."Pun intended" 

Got home from doing electrical work for a friend, and decided to go do to the shop and have some me time! Took the 40 pieces of 2 feet X 6 inches x 1/2 Poplar I bought from Woodcraft, and changed them into 320 pieces of 11 3/4 x 1 1/8x 1/2.Took some time to clean up the shop to Gunny’s standards after that.

I am also an electrician and I wouldn’t expect anything less.

 I don't understand...what's the problem with white and ivory....or almond and ivory? I have quite a few of both (but I'm not an electrician).

I discovered some pink plastic outlet/switch boxes in our new (to us) home. Disguised well with white plates. Some of the wiring in the shop runs through blue corrugated plastic tubing. I thought that was for electronics gear. But, what do I know?

Dunno bout the pink boxes, the blue tubing is nonmetallic flexible conduit. Kinda came into use after I got out of the residential wiring game. It’s supposed to be great stuff. I kinda like any system that allows us to add wires after construction is over. This is making me think your new digs are kinda newly constructed (last 20 years?)???

Yep. 2007. Shop building a year or so later. The shop wiring, as little as there is, probably within the last few years.

When you get ready to board the TPW jet, don't forget your 2020 code book (just in case). 

I got my 2020 NEC book. Wonder if Arizona will honor my Massachusetts, or New Hampshire electrical licenses?

Arizona is being infiltrated with Kalifornians...pretty soon electric will cause cancer in that state.
