November 10, 20205 yr comment_247694 While working on getting the shop together, I began to wonder what the best way to store the flammables? I used to keep them in a cabinet I made, but I don’t think that’s the right way. I looked at the Flammable cabinets and man, you need to take out a mortgage to get one of them. So my question to you guys is, how do you safely store your flammables? Report

November 10, 20205 yr comment_247700 My shop is detached, so they just sit on the shelf in there. I store a fair amount of gunpowder and reloading stuff in the house, and I have an old freezer I keep them in (not plugged in, of course). The freezer isn't a flammables cabinet but does offer some slight amount of heat resistance. Report

So my solution keep them air tight and then forget about them. Now I was cleaning out my Dad's place and the caustic solution in the metal contain had leaked. I smelled it and the aroma told me acid. I told Dad go wash now and we was already at the nearest sink. Then we cleaned it up with paper towels and set them out to dry. Long story short you can safely keep flammables away for ignition sources. In my case out of the basement and into the garage. Report
