October 29, 20205 yr Popular Post Had a weird day in the shop. About a week ago while changing out the 70mm jaws on my SN2 one jaw was lost and still cannot find it. Today prepping blanks to replenish my supply of snap tops the point on my Nova steb center disappeared. I took it out of the chuck and there were two springs inside the chuck which left me thinking "springs there are no springs in a chuck" . Then realization that the springs were in the drive center. So started sifting thru the chips and finally a miracle and there was the center point. ok now just put it back together right......wrong. Turns out there is a set screw in the back to lock the point in. Back to the chips and another miracle ....the set screw. So I may never , well that is a long time, fint that jaw for for a $55 set but did find the parts for the $58 Nova 1 1/4 steb drive. OH boy lets celebrate did not lose as much as thought so have enough to pay for the scope for the Mosin Nagant. By the way last Saturday had a great day doing demo at the Ag Museum. Just on tops alone I sold 30 at $5 and a bunch more stuff for the best day ever. Hey that is really the reason for buying the scope and a few other things.

October 29, 20205 yr Popular Post When it comes to losing things, I'm an expert. I've lost many things that magically appear right in front of me. It makes me think of what my mother used to say when I'd lose something when I was a kid,"The devil is ahiden it and if you forget about it, it will be right in front of you" She was usually right, it was in plain sight, but I didn't see it. Now that I am much older, the devil is ahiden stuff much more than ever.
October 31, 20205 yr Author Popular Post To cap this off , yesterday I decided to try one more time to find the lost jaw. Started to go out to where shavings dumped with a magnet and had a inspiration. Why not use the metal detector for lumber? So I got it out checked the settings and started to scan the chips. Low and behold withing the first 3 feet of scanning a beep and there it was , a little rusted but not that bad. So everything is right and I feel $60 happier.
