is now going on. While there is some discount, the tools are still a little pricey. I have a couple of LV "seconds" and you honestly can't tell what the flaw is. Anyway, if anyone is interested. The stuff does sell out fast.

I went to a Gerstner open house a few years ago.  They had new "seconds" and some rehabbed older ones. To be honest, I was not terribly impressed.  The domestic kits were predominately plywood and the Asian ones were solid wood.   But there was no attempt to provide any meaningful grain match across the fronts.

 

They also had a bunch of combination squares.  If I'd had something with me to test the squares, I might have been more interested, but you know what you can use an out-of-square square for?  A doorstop.
