October 26, 20205 yr I'm starting two new name signs and will use these veneers on the face but these were in a big batch of veneer I've had for about 30 years and I don't remember what they are. Anyone got any clues on these veneer species? I put a little in one spot of Naphtha on each to bring out the figure a little more in case that helps. David

October 26, 20205 yr Maybe don't use that for a good while or else those areas with the Naphtha might still not be completely gone and could show up. Just a thought. I'm not an exotic wood user but I've had paint thinner show up on regular hard wood a tad darker.
October 26, 20205 yr Author That's why I use Naphtha, no oils like paint thinner. I've been using it for 35-40 years, often right before I spray with lacquer and no issues whatsoever. David
October 26, 20205 yr Yes. Elm burl has some color variation, but that looks like Carpathian elm burl; at least to my eyes. Edited October 26, 20205 yr by Fred W. Hargis Jr
