October 19, 20205 yr Just got a request from a friend to help make some stands for plexiglass. they have 2 designs in mind, one is a pair of 1x6s, about 10" long, chamfered corners, slot cut for the plexiglass to slide into, can accommodate varying lengths of plexiglass. this is for a local school district, for use in their schools. 19 sets desired. based on lumber prices, about $50 worth of materials. lumber is not cheap anymore!!
October 19, 20205 yr Just FYI, it's 'Plexiglas®' (one 's') and is a registered trademark. But I've yet to see anyone spell it right this year, including journalists. Pass me a kleenex. And yes, I've heard construction lumber is up 3x this year.

The generic name is acrylic sheet. (I used to work for Kimberly-Clark, manufacturer of Kleenex). So, I give up. I'm still rebelling against the "pre-drill" term, I just drill holes, sometimes pilot holes and don't know how to pre-drill something any more than I know how to pre-saw something. https://www.acplasticsinc.com/informationcenter/r/plexiglass-vs-plexiglas#:~:text=What makes it particularly difficult,s is the brand name.
October 21, 20205 yr Author Popular Post and now radio silence. replied back to the lady that i could help, and nothing. not a "thank you, we'll be in touch", not a "we found someone closer/cheaper", not a "we have decided not to do this"...nothing. fine, i'll go back to doing what I was doing before you emailed: nothing. well, not nothing. i'm headed down to the shop shortly to make some space to park a car. neighbor is moving, but they have 2 people and 3 cars. oops. so they'll leave one behind, i'll store it until one of them can fly back to pick it up and drive it to their new home.
