Another Myrtle Wood Bowl Project

Featured Replies

Started this myrtle wood project this evening.  So far its turning quite nicely.  I'm finding that even if it's dried out myrtle wood is extremely wet wood.  Oh well it still turns nice.  So far its shaped and the outside of the bowl sanded down to 600 and has a nice shine to it.  Got pretty much all of the tool marks out of the bowl.  Hopefully I don't crack the side wall when I go to sand it out after hollowing it this time.  I've got the maple and this myrtle going to my older step brother and his wife they don't even know it yet.

Either way it happened lol.  So I tossed it in the yard waste bin and did the maple bowl instead which is finished now.  I don't know for sure exactly why that bowl cracked but it crack pretty bad.  Oh well.  At least the piece didn't fly off and become a missile that I'm fortunate for.  I've got more blanks on order so I'm not too concerned about it.
